How to Measure Your Shoe Size at Home (UK, US, EU, cm)
Why shoe sizes vary so much
A UK 8 from one brand can fit differently from a UK 8 from another, because sizing standards were never fully unified across regions. India and the UK use the same numbering system, but US and EU sizes are calculated differently, and none of them map onto foot length in centimetres in a perfectly linear way. The most reliable way to find your correct size is to measure your foot directly, then convert.
What you need
- A sheet of A4 paper
- A pen or pencil
- A ruler or tape measure
- A wall to stand against
Step-by-step measurement
- Measure in the evening, when your feet are at their largest.
- Wear the socks you would normally wear with the shoes.
- Place the paper on a hard floor against a wall, and stand on it with your heel touching the wall.
- Mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe, keeping the pen perpendicular to the floor.
- Measure the distance from the wall edge to the mark in centimetres. Repeat for both feet, since they are rarely identical, and use the larger measurement.

Do ELYS shoes run true to size?
Most ELYS styles run true to standard UK sizing. Boots and heavier leather styles fit slightly snugger initially and loosen with wear, so if your foot length falls exactly between two sizes, size up for boots and size to your measured length for loafers and sandals.
Still unsure? See the full ELYS size guide for category-specific fit notes, or check individual product pages for fit guidance on that style.
